Dublin Marathon 25th October 2010 (National Championships)

There were many Kilkenny representatives among the thousands who thronged the Dublin city streets for the annual  bank holiday marathon.

Three members of the inaugural Kilkenny Fit4Life group (Irene Henebry, Bregeen Murphy and Deirdre Scott), representing Kilkenny City Harriers (KCH) proved themselves comfortable with the distance. With a combined team time of 10 hours 44 minutes and 59 seconds they finished in 5th place in the national championships for the W40+ section. Irene, the fastest Kilkenny  lady in this year’s marathon, clocked 3:31:35. Veteran campaigner Teresa Daly on 3:50:42 was fourth fastest in the country in the W50 section. Other great times were scored by Ann Brett (3:53:40), Sheila O’Callaghan (3:58:23), Michelle Doyle (4:03:47) and Lisa Maher (4:10:43).

The men from KCH were also out in force. Paul Cody was the fastest over the distance. Crossing the line in 2:42:57 he, with Niall Lacey and Tommy Shefflin brought KCH into 10th place in the inter-club competition. Paul Moran on his debut marathon clocked an impressive 2 hours 58 minutes.

Other KCH runners to finish under four hours (in finish order) were Johann Dewberry, Davy Hogan, Noel Maher, Steve Dermody and Willie McTiernan.
