St Senans Athletes do well at the Dublin Walking Grand Prix

At the Grand Prix of Race Walking in the Pheonix Park on Sunday last St Senans had several athletes in action. Isabel Morgan had a great race taking silver in the U/14 event, while Tara Lacey placed 7th in the U/16 race with another fine effort. Twins Aoife and Orla Butler were 6th/7th in the U/18 race.

The star of the show was Kate Veale who gave a stunning display of walking in the U/18 event to win in superb fashion. Olive Loughnane made good ground in the latter part of the senior women’s 20K to take silver, while Robert Heffernan had to retire during the men’s 20K race. The event featured world class international walkers including the Olympic silver medallist from China.
