The 2011 track and field season was brought to a successful conclusion on Sunday last August 21st with the staging of the Woodie’s DIY Masters championships at Tullamore Harriers stadium.
The well attended championships were held in excellent weather conditions and were well supported by athletes from all over the country. Gowran AC was well represented and their athletes enjoyed some success in their events.
Murty and Joe Kelly were once again to the fore for Brow Rangers and both athletes were medal winners in their respective events.
Joe won gold in the Mens Hammer (V2) and bronze in the 56 lb for distance and 6th in the discus. Murty won bronze in the discus (V6) and finished in 4th place in the hammer
John Gorman finished 4th in the 200m (over 65)
Marty Kelly finished 3rd in the 800m (over 55), Pat Mahon missed gold by 2cm in the Long Jump (over 55) and his jump of 5.47m earned him the silver medal.
Eddie O Mahony was 3rd in the Javelin (over 45) with a throw of 23.43
Simon O Dwyer was 4th in the 5000m (over 40) in a time of 17min 10 sec
Gerry Fogarty finished 5th in the 1500m (V4)
