East Munster Schools: St Senans Athletes do well

St Senans athletes were in action in the East Munster Schools cross country championship last Thursday, at the new WIT Sports Complex in Carriganore.

In the junior girls Isabel Morgan helped the Ursuline team to gold medals with a superb 6thplace, while Caoimhe Kearns of Abbey College had a fine run placing 19th.

In the intermediate girl’s race, the fast improving Rachel Butler had a great run for Ursuline placing 7th overall with the team 4th, while for the Abbey College, Dearbhala Kearns, Tara Lacey and Hannah Irish all performed well.

In the senior race Bronagh Kearns was an impressive winner with Aine Kinsella taking silver with another fine run. Unfortunately Abbey College didn’t have a team, as they would surely have been among the medals with such a strong individual showing.

In the minor boy’s race, Jonathan Crowley had a super run taking silver and helping the De LaSalle team take gold.

In the intermediate boys, Hugh Morgan also took silver for De LaSalle with another brilliant run. In the same race the club had four runners on Abbey College team, with Oliver Mullally first home in 8th place followed by David Irish, Eoghan and Gerard Wallis. The Munster Schools CC takes place in Cork IT on Thursday 9th Feb.
