National Juvenile Relays

The Tullamore Harriers athletic track, venue for the All-Ireland Inter-club juvenile relays on Saturday, was very hot. The competition was also hot and the teams from Kilkenny performed  with gusto.

From the youngest team, the under 12 girls from Thomastown,to the oldest team, the under19 girls from Kilkenny City Harriers, all gave great value to team managers and supporters. The afore-mentioned Thomastown girls were excellent in their semi-final and finished 7th in the final.

The young lads from St Joseph’s were a class act in semi-final and final and crossing the finish line in 54.10 seconds they were duly rewarded with silver medals.

The Kilkenny City Harriers under 16 boys, the sole boys team from the city club, finished in 13th place. From under 14 to under 19 Kilkenny City Harriers had a team involved in all 4x100m girls races. All reached the finals save under 15 team which placed 9th . The under 14 team were 6th and the under 16 girls were 8th. It was medals for the other three teams with the under 17s getting silver in 52.46 seconds. The under 18 and under 19 teams both won gold with the under 18 girls marginally faster finishing in 50.55 compared with 50.69 for the older girls.

Boys Under 13 – 2ndSt Joseph’s (Sam Sutton, Darragh MCDonald, Rory O’Connor, Jack Elliott, Subs Oisin Griffen, Killian Griffen).

Girls Under 14 – 6thKilkennyCity Harriers (Leah Raggett, Jade Maher, Ella Richardson, Ciara Deely).

Girls Under 15 – 9thKilkennyCity Harriers (Leah Raggett, Keeva O’Brien, Sinead Tuohy, Ciara Deely)

Boys Under 16 – 13thKilkennyCity Harriers (David Maher, Dylan Drennan Smyth, Eamonn McPhillips, Jack Manning)

Girls Under 16 – 8th Kilkenny City Harriers ( Niamh McMullan, Grace Richardson, Aisling McDonough, Aoibhe O’Shea, Subs Sinead Tuohy, Keeva O’Brien).

Girls Under 17 – 2nd Kilkenny City Harriers (Eimear O’Donoghue, Aoibhe O’Shea, Niamh McMullan, Eimear McMullan, Sub Aisling McDonough).
