Scotland with 163 points just pipped Ireland with 162 points for overall victory in this year’s Celtic Games at Colwyn Bay, Wales on Saturday.
Kilkenny athletes Shannen Dawkins, St Joseph’s and Sarah Kate Lacey, Kilkenny City Harriers were significant scorers for the Ireland U-18 squad.
Shannen was superb winning the high jump with a 1.70m clearance.
Sarah Kate clocked 25.37 to finish second in the 200m. Both girls combined with Annie Stafford, Menapians of Wexford and Niamh McNicholl, Ferrybank, to claim victory in the 4x100m relay.
