At The Leinster Star Awards in The Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow on Jan 4th the Kilkenny Juvenile recipients were Shannen Dawkins, St Josephs AC and Jack Manning, Kilkenny City Harriers.

Shannen, competing in the Girls U-18 category was the winner of the 60m hurdles and High Jump at the Leinster Indoor Championships and in the outdoor track and field championships won gold in the 200m, 400m hurdles, 100m hurdles and High Jump.

While Jack Manning competing at u-16 level also had a successful championships winning both the indoor and outdoor 200m titles and placing second in the 100m and 250m hurdles while picking up the bronze medal in the indoor shot putt.

The Senior Award went to Emma Fenlon, St Josephs AC . Emma was the winner of the Senior Women’s Shot Putt event both indoors and outdoors at the Leinster Championships along with a gold medal performance in the weight for distance event and a third place finish in the women’s hammer.

Meanwhile Kilkenny City Harriers picked up two club awards. The Eurotab Cup for best Juvenile track and field club (16-19 age groups) at the Leinster Championships along with the Hehir Shield for being the top Leinster club in the Relay Championships.

Kilkenny County cross country teams were also honoured. County Chairman Denis Cormack was presentedwith the Foley Cup which is awarded annually to the top Cross Country County
