Fridays night events were confined to the senior and more senior athletes and despite the small numbers the competition was keen in all events. In the Senior 1500m walk John Lennon Gowran AC was the winner and in doing so completed a remarkable feat. John first competed in this event in 1967 when he finished third. He won the event in 1969, the same year as his namesake was playing his final concert with the Beatles. John also won this event in all the succeeding decades up to the current one giving him Senior Co Medals in six different decades. His time on Friday night was well under 8 minutes for 1500m as was that of Michael O Keefe who was in second place.
Dean Brennan KCH had an excellent treble winning the senior long jump, triple jump and javelin.
Maria Griffin also collected a few more medals and has put in some tremendous performances over the course of the championships.
KCH Coach Conor MacGabhann also had a good night and went home with a pocket full of medals
