David McGeary wins Gold at Schools Combined Events National Championships

KCH athlete, David McGeary, representing CBS Kilkenny took first place in the National final of the Senior Schools Combined Events in Santry Stadium on Saturday.

David, who ten days earlier won the Leinster Combined Events title with a score of 3,157 points, was in top form amassing a grand total of 3,348 points. His performances in the requisite six events were as follows- Hurdles 16.90, Shot 9.15, Long Jump 6.03, High Jump 1.65, 200m 24.40 and 800m 2.12.04.

In the Intermediate Girls event, St Abban’s Nessa Millet, Kilkenny College, battled all the way to secure the silver medal with 2,952 points. In the same event, Catriona Twomey KCH, representing  Loreto Kilkenny, finished sixth with a very respectable 2, 396 points.
