DCU were the overall winners of the Intervarsities Indoor T&F Championships which were held in Nenagh on Saturday.
Three Kilkenny athletes contributed to that success. Teresa Conlon throwing 6.96m in the 8K Weight for Distance secured second place. Laura Langton scored twice with 5th place in the 60m hurdles and another 5th place in the Combined Events. John Fagan won the bronze medal in the 800m in 1.56.94.
The top Kilkenny performance came from UCD based athlete, Ciara Everard, who ran a composed 800m to take gold in 2.05.76.
Other performances came from:- Louise Holmes representing Athlone Institute of Technology. She finished 7th in the 60m final in 8 seconds having earlier created a college record of 7.96 in the semi-final.
Toss Hayes, University of Limerick, finished 4th in the 3000m. His time of 8.47.09 was a nine second improvement on his 8.56 which he achieved the previous weekend in the Leinster Indoors.
Michael Bowler did his bit for Institute of Technology, Carlow winning bronze in the High jump (1.95) and amassing 3,420 points to take the silver in the Combined Events.
