Leinster B & Mixed Relays

The fourth and final day of the Leinster Athletics events was hosted by Oughaval AC in Stradbally Co. Laois on Saturday last. The event started with the U11 relays, with teams from Kilkenny City Harriers, Castlecomer and Gowran all competing on the day. Heavy rain throughout the week and the morning of the race meant conditions were not favourable on the course. The younger age groups were running the shorter 500m lap twice and had to contend with a downhill fast start into a sliding bend on each lap. The older athletes had laps of the outer 1km loop, which was particularly muddy in parts but much better under foot conditions overall. There was great success  from the day with 6 top 12 individual medals for Eva Hoyne KCH, Joe Phelan KCH, Kate Kelly KCH, Brid Farrell Gowran, Lucy Cunningham Gowran and Gearoid Farrell Gowran. Kilkenny City Harriers had the bronze medals in the Boys U13 club event and the Boys U13 County athletes also won bronze with three clubs represented on the team.
