Dublin City Marathon

Although the rain slightly cleared north for the best part of the day, conditions were difficult with the high winds that pushed nearly 19,000 runners to the max, over the 26miles of the Dublin City Marathon. There was great representation on the day with over 80 runners declared from Kilkenny clubs as part of the County Marathon race and also the Leinster Marathon Championships. Aoibhe Richardson was the first lady home for Kilkenny in a superb time of 2:44:04, just outside the medal position for the Irish runners category. Sally Forristal St. Joseph’s was 2nd lady home in the County category in a superb time of 2:57:23 and 6th in her age group. Aoife Nolan Kilkenny City Harriers was 3rd lady home in 3:07:03. Kilkenny City Harriers won first team with Aoibhe, Aoife and Emma Ayres making up the 1st team. St. Joseph’s A team took 2nd place in the team, and Kilkenny City Harriers B took the bronze. Sean Connery Kings River was the first male home in 2:46:32, finishing 49th in his age category.  John Coady Gowran was 2nd home in 2:50:46, and led the Gowran Men’s team to take the gold in the County Marathon. Harry Phelan Castlecomer was 3rd male home for Kilkenny in 2:53:45. Gowran took the first team with John Coady, Joe Keohane and Paddy O’Keeffe the three team scorers. Castlecomer took the Men’s silver in the team category with Kilkenny City Harriers A Men’s team claiming bronze. Outstanding results from everyone
