Good Results at the All ireland Juvenile Pairs in Templemore 25th June 2011

Thomastown win All Ireland Bronze in Girls U10 500m at the All Ireland JuvenileU9-U11 team events.

In the All Ireland track and field pairs finals at Templemore on Saturday the 25th June 2011

Thomastown’s Ciara O’Keeffe and Orla O’Keeffe ran a superb 500m to finish in 3rd place overall. Of the thirteen finalists in the U10 girls 500m St Laurence O Tools were 1st with a combined time of 3.29.61, Westport A.C were 2nd in a time of 3.31.75 , Thomastown A.C 3rd in 3.33.53 and in 4th place were St Ronans in 3.37.02.

In the pairs competition each club is represented by two athletes in each event and each athletes time is added to give a combined time for the event.

To compete in the all-Ireland finals the team had to qualify by finishing in the first three places at the Leinster Track and field. Thomastown had three other pairs qualify for the finals plus a relay team.

Ciara and Orla win All Ireland Bronze

In the U9 girls 60m Anna Cass and Aine Kirwan put in a good run to finish in 6th place . Aine and Anna competed in the 300m and finished in 8th place.

In the boys’ u10 Ball throw Tom Holden and Edmund Fitzpatrick were our representatives and finished in 8th place.

Thomastown also had a team in the girls U10 relay. The girls ran very well in a very close race but just missed out on qualifying for the final by 0.35 of a second. In fact Thomastown were only 1.3sec behind the fastest qualifying team. The team was Ciara O’Keeffe, Orla O’Keeffe, Roisin O’Keeffe and Roisin Dempsey.

Gowran and KCH also take bronze

Sarah O Donnell and Eve O Dwyer, Gowran AC were 3rd in the 300m in a time of 1.57.65 and they were also 4th in the 60m in a time of 21.26

Darragh Maher and Sean  Burke KCH were 3rd in the 600m.
