2019 IRISH UNIVERSITY T&F

It was show down time at the ladies 400m between Cliodhan Manning (KCH) and Sophie Becker (St Josephs), competing for IT Carlow and DCU respectivly. With Cliodhan returning from injury and the younger Becker having a great year so far, it was any girls game. On this occassion facing into a strong wind no one was going to record a PB. Cliodha won the race with Sophie 2nd. We look forward to lots more exciting competitions between these two girls in the season ahead. Looks like County Kilkenny is the home of 400m runners.
Shane Power (St Josephs) competing for DCU won the Pole Vault after having a hairy moment at 3.60m, a height he would normally scale with ease. In the end he had a comfortable victory – making him both outdoor and indoor champion for 2019.
John Joe kelly (Brow Rangers) competing for UCD had a great day. He finished 3rd in the discus and was 4th in both the shot and weight for distance. His first cousin Emma Kelly (UL) was 6th in the weight for distance and 7th in the discus.
Jack Manning and Callum Byrne (KCH) were part of their 4 X 400m and 4 x 100m relay teams. Jack competed for DCU who won their relay and Callum competed for CIT who were 3rd.
David Murpthy of Gowran competing for IT Carlow won both his 100m heat and semi final -bowing out to injury in the final,
Grace Richardson (KCH) was 9th in the 3000m competing for UCC.
