ST SENANS AC ARE THE BEST CLUB IN THE COUNTY

The final day of the Juvenile County Cross Country Championships was held amid another glorious autumnal day of sunshine. Castlecomer, the usual venue was as busy as pre-covid days with upwards of fifty juveniles in some of the races. The same coaches, the same starters, finish takers and officials, it was athletics as usual – a relief for everyone. The race for the title of the best club in the county was close coming into this final day. KCH had held a lead of 3 points from Gowran after Day 1 which is the relays with St Senans just another half point behind. After day 2 in Ballycurran, the positions changed somewhat. St Senans overtook both KCH and Gowran. They led KCH by 2 points with Gowran a further 8 points behind. Thus coming into day 3 it was going to be an exciting contest. However, with three winning teams and three second placed teams, both KCH and Gowran had to settle for 2^nd and 3^rd respectively as the southern club St Senans AC emerged victorious.
