Uneven Age Juvenile and Novice A Cross Country 2025

It was another bright fresh morning in Castlecomer, with dry weather and great underfoot running conditions for the athletes at the uneven age cross country. The well laid course by Castlecomer AC has provided great races in the past with the drag up the hill for the older ages a sure test of stamina and perseverance. There were some close sprint finishes which is not always easy to produce after a tough few kilometeres through the field. The U7 set off the day with both the girls and boys running the 200m for precious silverwear. For a second day running the younger age groups had massive numbers competing which is fantastic to see and long may it last for the enthusiastic athletes. The U9 non-championship races were well attended with over 40 athletes in each race. The U11 and U13 were the most competitive in the age groups and there were some excellent results from all the clubs on the day. Kilkenny City Harriers were dominant in the U11 Girls with two winning teams while the boys had great representation from the host club Castlecomer, KCH and Thomastown in the teams. The Girls U13 teams were highly contested with just two points separating 1^st and 2^nd place, with Gowran edging out KCH for the top spot. In the Boys U13 KCH were again in with 2 winning teams with Gowran in 3^rd. The U15 races saw only one team in each race, KCH winning the U15 Girls and Gowran winning the U15 Boys. St. Senan’s were the worthy winners of the Boys U17 team event.  Well done to all that competed in every race and a reminder that county training will be on this Friday 17^th October at 7pm in Thomastown and in the Castle Park on Sunday 2^nd November 2025 at 11am.
