
National Masters
The National Masters brought the curtain down on an incredible outdoor track and field season for many, with two days of competition in Santry on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Graham Bourne Kilkenny City Harriers had a blistering Friday evening taking home three gold medals for his performances in the triple jump, 100mH and the 3000m steeplechase, setting a new personal best in the steeplechase. Martina Walsh Brow Rangers put in an extraordinary day on the track, with bronze in the 100m and 200m, and silver in the 400m. Competing and medalling is three fast sprints in hot conditions on the track is a true test of endurance. Matt Ryan Gowran rounded off his Masters season with 3 medals over the course of the two days, winning 1 silver in the long jump, and bronze in the high jump and 3000m steeplechase. Matt produced a new personal best in the steeplechase too. Mary Breen St. Joseph’s was in action in the throwing events on the Friday evening winning herself bronze in the WFD and shot put, and a silver in the hammer. Mick Redmond Thomastown took to the track on Saturday afternoon to take on the 5000m in the Men’s O70 race, in very warm conditions, finishing in 3rd place for the bronze in a superb time of 24:15.10.
