Pink Rock 10k Road Race

Pink Rock

The annual Pink Rock 10k was held on Sunday, ran by the ever efficient St. Joseph’s AC, who year on year excel themselves in hosting such a great race. The weather was fabulous for the race and the prize giving afterwards as Chairman Rocky Mernagh afforded those who battled out for the top podium places. The race is held in conjunction with the Kilkenny County 10k road race championships, with many of the Kilkenny athletic clubs represented well on the day. Last year’s silver medallist James Kelly Castlecomer ran an epic run to win the race this year in a time 33:23, with Eamonn O’Connor KCH hot on his heels again this year to take the silver in 33:32.  Evan Alyward St. Senan’s took the bronze in 34:58 and led his club team home for second place. The top three men also won the County 10k accolades, Kilkenny City Harriers won the Men’s team title in 1st place, St. Senan’s Men’s team took the silver and Gowran’s Men’s team claimed the bronze. The ladies top two finishers hailed from Clonmel AC, Ciara O’Neill took the gold in a fantastic time of 35:03, and club mate Keeley Tideswell followed home for the silver 3 minutes later in 38.04. Emma Ayres KCH was the 3rd lady home overall and first lady home in the County 10k. Lisa Collins and Kate Sugrue KCH took the silver and bronze in the Ladies County 10k and made up the KCH ladies’ team along with Jane Campbell taking gold. Gowran’s ladies won the silver team, and St. Joseph’s took the 3rd team spot winning bronze. Well done to everyone who ran and to St, Joseph’s Ac and all involved in planning, preparing and hosting another great Pink Rock 10k run. Full results of County 10k
