South Leinster Schools Track and Field

Day 2 and 3 of the South Leinster Schools took place last week in the SETU, with more schools across Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford & Kildare represented so well, with great performances and lots of medals returning to schools. Congratulations to all who competed and to those who qualified and will go on to represent their schools at the Leinsters this week.

Munster Schools

The Munster Schools Track and Field took place on Saturday in Castleisland with St. Senan’s athletes representing both Abbey College and Waterpark College on the day. Tadhg O’Callaghan walked his way to gold in the Junior 1200m race in a brilliant time of 6:00.55, while Kerry Widger took bronze in the Inter 2000m event in a time of 12:11.02. Ava Hogan just missed out on the medals in the Minor High Jump finishing in 4^th place overall jumping 1.35m. Lewis Morgan ran a strong race in the U16 Mile finishing in 7^th for 5:02.44. Daire Casey Power took the top spot in the Senior Boys Javelin throwing a massive 40.93m, just over 6 metres ahead of 2^nd place.

Leinster Schools

Day 1 and 2 of the Leinster schools were during the week in Tullamore with the Inter and Seniors taking to the track on Monday and Junior and Minors turn on Wednesday. Both days showcased the amazing talents of the Kilkenny athletes that were representing their schools throughout Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford and Kildare. All those that qualified now go onto represent their schools at National Schools at the end of May. Congratulations to all those who competed and best of luck to all in the Nationals, Full Leinster results:
