Leinster U20, Senior and Master Championships

The sun skies of Carlow shun down on the SETU over the weekend as the Junior, Senior and Master athletes took to the track and field events at the Leinster Provincials. There were lots of new Championship records set, new PB’s reached and a vast number of medals of all colours won over various disciplines across the two days of events. Once again, this year the Leinster U20 decathlon and Leinster throws heptathlon was held in over both days of the weekend.  James Kelsey of Gowran was competing in the decathlon and set another New Championship Record of 4943 points over the 10 disciplines to take the gold in the Men’s U20.  Kieran, Joe and Murty Kelly were all back throwing in the throws heptathlon, with Kieran taking gold in the O40, Joe clinching silver in the O55, and Murty retaining his top spot from last year for the gold medal too in the O75. Congratulations to everyone who competed, as the focus now turns to the start of the Leinster juvenile championships next Sunday.
