
Tailteann InterProvincial Games
The annual interprovincial Tailteann games were held on Saturday last in the SETU, Carlow. The historic games will showcase the top 3 Inter athletes from Munster, Leinster, Connaught and Ulster all vying for places on the SIAB School’s International teams that takes place in Belfast in July. The highly competitive event also features the best team title with Leinster winning the Boys title and Munster winning the girls title in 2025. There were athletes from three clubs selected to compete over the weekend. Kerry Widger St. Senan’s was representing Munster in the Inter 3000m walk. Kerry placed in 6th place in a time of 18:51.91 and is still eligible for next years games also. Brow Rangers had throwers Robert Patterson and Sophie O’Neill competing in the Hammer. Robert threw 43.39 in his Inter competition to finish 7 for Leinster, while Sophie threw 36.97 to also finish in 7th for the Leinster girls team. Kilkenny City Harriers had Victor Lamph compete in the 400m and Patrick competing in the 400mH. Victor secured silver in a time of 48.99 secs with Patrick finished in 3rd for bronze 57.82. Both boys were also part of the 4x400m relay that won silver medals on the day too, and achieved SIAB selection (To be confirmed). Leinster won the Boys Team title with a total of 177 points while the Girls Team Title was won again by Munster with 138 points, and just 2 points separating Munster in 1st and Leinster in 2nd.
