National Pairs and Relays

The first one the All Ireland Track and Field days was held yesterday in Tullamore in the glorious sunshine with some outstanding results for the clubs that were represented on the day. There were National medals won in the pairs, as Castlecomer duo Patrick Comerford and Oisin Fogarty won silver medals in a joint 2nd place finish. Castlecomer and Swinford both had a combined score of 46.46cm in the U11 Boys Turbo Javelin. Diarmuid Maher and Cian Nolan competed in the Boys U11 60m and 600m pairs on the day too, placing 14th pair in sprint and 10th pair in the 600m. Castlecomer had two relay teams in the National Finals Boys U10 and Boys U11, both teams ran superbly in fast heats. The U10 team of Ciaran Brennan, Cayden Nolan, Daire Smith and Nicky Morrissery finished 4th in their heat. The U11 team of Cian Nolan, Diarmuid Maher, Oisin Fogarty and Patrick Comerford finished 6th in their timed heat. Thomastown’s Georgia Keyes and Julianne Doyle also produced two medal winning performances in the Girls U11 Turbo Javelin to claim the bronze with a combined score of 36.26m. Thomastown were very unlucky not to pick up more medals but instead had to contend with three 4th place finishes throughout the day. Luke Hanlon just missed out on a medal in the Boys U12 Shot Put. Cian Hickey and Hugo Jasinghe placed 4th in Turbo Javelin, while the U9 duo of Amelia Dunne and Erin Smyth took 4th in the Long Jump. The U11 Girls Kayla Hickey, Georgia Keyes, Roisin Pembroke and Julianne Doyle were running in a timed heat in the National final with the girls placing 8th in their heat in a time of 1:03.21. Kilkenny City Harriers U11 girls Holly Quinn, Mayar Elfaedy, Ava Ledingham, Molly Costelloe and Amenze Victor finished their heat in 3rd place and 6th overall from the two heats. KCH also had two of their U11 Girls sprinting in the pairs, Amenze Victor and Florence O’Donoghue, running the 60m sprint earlier in the day. Roisin Hyland was also competing in the U12 Girls High Jump finishing in a credible 5th place having jumped 1.25m in her event.
