Leinster Road Races – Novice and Masters

The Leinster Road Races – Novice and Masters- took place in Gowran on May Bank Holiday. It was a very well attended event with the number of participants significantly up on previous years. With stiff competition from all over the province, Kilkenny athletes, club and county teams performed really well.

Highlights included the county novice teams finishing 1st and 2nd respectively in men’s and women’s backboned by strong performances including Sharon Cleere’s silver medal. Sharon also led her club team Gowran to a bronze team medal while her male colleagues also brought home bronze led by Robbie Magee.

The Masters saw yet again a strong performance from Niamh Richardson from KCH in winning the Women’s O50 while her club team KCH won bronze in the Women’s O35.

Well done also to host club Gowran AC who once again showed excellent organisation and hospitality.
