Kilkenny Results Autumn Open Abbotstown

With Hurricane Ophelia somewhere in the Arctic and Storm Brian expelled from our shores, Kilkenny athletes emerged unscathed to perform with excellence in the Athletics Ireland Autumn Open Cross Country in Abbotstown today.

The ladies were represented by Lauren Dearmody (Castlecomer AC) in the Senior Ladies event. Lauren is getting stronger and faster with each race and today took her performance up a notch with a fantastic 19th place. One must remember that this is Lauren’s first year out of the Junior category and her 19th place is very creditable indeed.

In the Ladies Masters Event St Senans AC Adele Walsh finished 2nd in the Female over 40 section and 5th overall in the Ladies Masters. A great performance for Adele. A performance that must assure her of her place on the Masters Team for the Home Countries Masters International.

In the Senior Men, the county was represented by the KCH quartet of Eoin Everard, Thos Hayse, Brian Maher and Tom O’Keeffe. Eoin was the first home in 8th place, followed by Thos in 13th, Brian in 15th and Tom in 18th place. This race was won by Hiko Tonasa of Dundrum South Dublin with Gideon Kipsang Kimosop of Kenya in 2nd place.
