Three Kilkenny clubs featured in the medals at the National Relays in Tullamore on Saturday – between them bringing home a full set of medals. With the holiday season here in the form of the extreme sunshine we have been having, along with others being away at International competition, the numbers were somewhat down this year. This however did not detract from the excellent standard of competition on offer.
The KCH girls u/14 relay team added the outdoor 4 X 100m to their indoor title when they stormed to a blazing victory in the scorching Tullamore sun. The team consisted of: Amelie Foley, Ella Delahunty, Abbie OBrien, Orla Kenny & Blaithin Holden.
The KCH boys u/13 came 2nd to secure the silver medal. This versatile team of talented young boys consisted of: Brian Moore, Daniel Ring, Alex Cullen, Seán Young & Ruairi McEvoy .
Thomastown AC secured the bronze medal ousting Monahan Phoenix into 4th place on the final 100m. This team was not without their mishaps when Sinead O’Keeffe pulled her hamstring with 150m to go on leg 3. None-the-less the girls put in the extra effort and were justly rewarded with 3rd place. The team consisted of: Ciara O’Keeffe, Sinead O’Keeffe, Ellen Ryan and Orla O’Keeffe.
