
Jamie Boyle Games
The Jamie Boyle games in association with the Irish Wheelchair association were held in Templemore on Saturday last with 3 athletes from Kilkenny all competing in track and field events throughout the day. Naoise Reddy was representing St. Joseph’s in the U12 category and had incredible performances in all events winning gold in the 60m track race, silver in the shot put and discus. Naoise was also chosen as the recipient of the Jamie Boyle Shield, a prestigious award given each year to an athlete that has shown great sportsmanship at the competition. Naoise was chosen by as the 2026 winner by the family of the late Jamie Boyle and the Para Athletics Ireland committee.
Alex Donnellan Gowran AC was also in action at the games, competing in her favoured throws events, having great success in all 3. Moving up in age Alex was competing in the shot put, discus and javelin and won silver in all three.
Kang O’Gorman Brow Rangers arrived home with an array of medals from the games in Tullamore too. Kang now moving up in age to U14 and classification too, won 4 gold in the javelin, shot put, discus and long jump. Kang had success on the track too winning bronze in the 100m in 23.50 and bronze in the 200m in 50.80.
Massive congratulations to all three athletes on their amazing performances in Templemore, and best wishes to those competing in this coming weekend at Leinsters too.
