Leinster Relays 2026

Leinster Relays

With the Leinster Championships well underway for the outdoor season, the attention was now on the Uneven and Even Age relays in the SETU on Saturday. The day itself is one filled with lots of enthusiastic athletes buzzing to run their hearts out in their leg of the relays. As with the individual events this year the younger ages from U9 up to U12 are highly competitive in both the Boys and Girls categories. All of the under-age races had at least two heats or more, with the top two or three teams into the final along with the fastest qualifiers. Leading up to the day there was a total of 251 teams entered across all ages, a testament to how popular athletics, especially relays has taken off. Watching the Irish team relays and their success in recent years has definitely inspired many athletes and the team spirit of running with your friends is the highlight. On the day Kilkenny was represented by no less than 41 teams from 5 of the juvenile clubs, Castlecomer, Gowran, Kilkenny City Harriers, St. Senan’s and Thomastown. There were gold medals for Thomastown’s Girls in the U11, while the A team from Kilkenny City Harriers took silver in the same event. Castlecomer’s U10 and U11 boys team both won bronze in the finals. Kilkenny City Harriers U13 boys and U14 boys won silver in their final, while the girls U14 A team won bronze also. The Kilkenny City Harriers U16 stormed to anther gold medal in one of the last races of the day. Four of the girls alongside Ellen Daly and Zoe Beck finished 2nd in the girls U17 for the silver medal earlier that day in the morning races. Congratulations to all the teams who ran so well in their heats, finals and medalled on the day. Full results below:
