National Track & Field 2026

Day 1 & 2 of the National Track and Field Championships commenced over the weekend with athletes from 6 Kilkenny juvenile clubs competing over the course of the weekend. After a very successful Leinster campaign, the juveniles were now battling it out against Ireland’s top athletes to claim their places on the podiums in Tullamore. Over 50 athletes from Brow Rangers, Gowran, Nuenna, Kilkenny City Harriers, St. Senan’s, St. Joseph’s and Thomastown showcased their talents in their favoured events with an incredible 19 medals won between them, 6 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze. There were plenty of Personal Best in quicker race times achieved, higher jumps and improved throwing distance since Leinster, showing the hard work and training is paying off. The first medals from the weekend came from the 400m and walks with 3 clubs claiming podium spots. St. Senan’s 3 walkers all secured medals Ellie Mae Aylward won silver in the U14 Girls, Kerry Widger winning bronze in the Girls U17 and Tadhg O’Callaghan also won bronze in the Boys U15. Daire Casey Power won St. Senan’s fourth medal winning silver in the Boys U19 Javelin.  Kate Maher and Victor Lamph both Kilkenny City Harriers ran incredible 400m races to win each gold in the final. Patrick Wall Kilkenny City Harriers also secured bronze in his Boys U17 400m final to take to the podium. Elvis Urbstas won St. Joseph’s first day medal as he stormed to 1^st place in the Boys U14 80m sprint to take gold. Lily Ryan and Evan Walsh won a bronze and gold for St. Joseph’s in their race walking on the Sunday, Lily winning bronze in the 3000m while Evan won gold in his 5000m his race. Ellen Daly KCH won her heat, then went on to win silver in the Girls U17 100m sprint on Saturday afternoon. Jasmine Timmons McEneaney KCH also won her own heat in the Girls U16 and finished the final in 2^nd place for the silver. Daniel Greene KCH competing in the 800m on Sunday placed 3^rd in both his heat and later the final to win bronze in the Boys U15 800m. Conor Lawrence Delaney won KCH their 3^rd bronze by jumping 1.45m in the Boys U13 High Jump, just missing out on the silver on countback. Gowan’s three medals came from Pole Vault, Aoibhlinn Steger was up first on Saturday and won bronze in the Girls U18 competition. On Sunday both Sean Farrell and James Kelsey of Gowran won their respective events, Sean in the Boys U15 and James in the Boys U19 Pole Vault clinching the top spot and winning two golds for the club. Brow Rangers medals came from Robert Patterson winning silver in the Boys U17 Hammer on Saturday and Meabh O’Donovan winning bronze in the Girls U19 Hammer event. For many athletes the competition continues with the remaining events set to take place on Saturday 11^th July in Tullamore for Day 3, with the National B’s to look forward to on Sunday 12^th.
