U20 & U23 Nationals
Tullamore looked to the older juveniles this weekend as the U20 and U23 National Track and Field Championships got underway. These highly competitive days attract good numbers as many of the athletes are chasing European and World Standard times. It was a weekend that saw many records broken, amongst them was Kilkenny City Harriers Pia Langton who stormed to victory in the Ladies 800m on Saturday, setting a new record of 2:08:15 for the win. Tom Murphy Kilkenny City Harriers won his U20 3000m Steeplechase in a great time of 9:44:15 to take the gold in the morning race. Victor Lamph won Kilkenny City Harriers 3rd medal of the weekend, winning silver in the Men’s U20 400m final on Saturday evening. Victor placed 2nd in 49.50 taking over a second off his heat time in the final. Robert Patterson won bronze for Brow Rangers in the Men’s U20 35lbs Weight for Distance. His Brow Rangers club mate Adam Dunne was also competing in the event finishing in 4th just behind Robert. Kilkenny City Harriers had a strong U20 4x400m relay team that won bronze in 3:33.53, with Danny Direen, Eoghan O’Farrell, Cillian Daly and Victor Lamph making up the team. There were great performances from all the athletes, with many competing up in age and still eligible for the next year or two. Full results below:
