County Novice 4Mile

Kilkenny County 4Mile Road Race

The annual 4Mile hosted for the 3^rd year by Gowran AC took place on Friday evening, with runners from across the county competing in the County road race. The route sets out from the village, along the Kyle road and ends at Connolly’s county pub, Dunbell for the prize giving and well earned refreshments. The race was won by Gowran’s Martin Desgrandchamps, who went one better than last year to claim the top spot in a time of 22:22 over the 4mile distance. Evan Alyward St. Senan’s was 2^nd male home overall and 1^st male in the novice county championships, he also led home the St. Senan’s team to first place. Karl Tobin Gowran was 2^nd male in the novice in a time 23.19 with club mate Johan Muller following in 23.22 for 3^rd place. St. Senan’s team of Evan Aylward, Patrick Aylward, Keith Norris and Keith Coady won gold in the Men’s team. The Gowran team of Karl Tobin, Johan Muller, Paul Deegan and Matt Ryan won silver in the Men’s. Kilkenny City Harriers were 3^rd team home with Martin Grace, Trevor Charters, Billy Culleton and Ian Comerford making up the team.

Ann Brennan Gowran was the first lady home in a superb time of 27.55, with Kathryn Kennedy also Gowran winning the silver in a time 28.49. Rhoda Griffin Kilkenny City Harriers was the 3^rd lady home in 29.35 to claim the bronze. Kilkenny City Harriers Rhoda Griffin, Agnes Delahunty and Mary Ryan made up the Ladies winning Novice team. Barrow Harriers Fiona Canning, Ellen Brennan and Denise Sheehy took the silver in the Ladies Novice race.
